In this article, we have come up with some ideas with some effective classroom strategies.

1. Make clear with the rules

Most of the educators prepare  a list which covers the syllabus for the entire year explaining what are their tasks and when they have to do. It details completely about all the tests and quizzes, and how the students will get their grades. Teachers usually draft a handbook of two- or three-page which is referred to as “student handbook” which specifies what students are supposed to do and not to do and when.

While you do this, it’s quite necessary to ensure that the students understand what your rules mean.

Don’t expect that all the students will understand your rules just because you’ve defined them, shared them, and posted them. Your kind of thinking and talking may differ from other’s understanding. Not all humans think alike, so express your expectations more appropriately. It is a good thing to stay making fun around until the students are focused. Many teachers have faced great success by the way of talking which is effective.

Involve students

You can be more open to reaching out to students to help you with your rules preparation. It is a better idea to discuss with the student about your potential rules, instead of just handing over your syllabus to them on their first class. For sure you will be surprised to see many students will wish to have stricter rules than what you have created. Ensure that the rules are common, practical and also more constructive. And also ensure that all your rules are apt for tree entire class.

You have to conscious to avoid too many class disruptions or too much-undisciplined behavior when discussing in class. Once the rules are into the practice, remember to be more consistent. This consistency will help the students to result fairly when they know that everyone is treated fairly.

2. ENCOURAGE QUESTIONING

As a teacher, it’s your responsibility to answer student’s questions and of course, you should not be more focused on lectures to avoid questioning from the students. Encourage students to raise and ask for more questions at any time. One of the rules should specify what the students should do when they need to raise a question. Usually, it’s a common practice of raising their hands.

It is a good practice to make students get involved and interested in the subject by interacting with them with relevance to their interests. Teachers should initiate asking questions and make the students come up with more questions that trigger the discussion in the way of critical thinking skill development.

Make sure that all the questions are well answered. It’s not necessary that all the questions are to be answered by you, you can encourage other co-students to volunteer to answer their classmates’ questions. Students wish to learn better when they gain information from another student.

You have to appreciate your student’s work. Come forward to show that you value the work they have done to gain their knowledge. Create a milestone for each work to do every day. You can also encourage students by making them talk about their work in front of other students at least once a week. Let the other classmates also know the hard work their peers have put in to finish their work. Many students wish to know their work will be celebrated rather than just their grades will pay more attention.

4. Model ideal behavior

Create a model to demonstrate what you want to explain. Most of the students grasp things faster when things are explained using modeling.

Build relationships

Building relationships is one of the most effective classroom management techniques. Students start to put in more effort in your rules when they start to trust their educators. When teachers start to know more about each student in person, then it would be easy for you to interact with them and explain what you think. Every class should be built in a family feel.
